I’m Iain Soumitri, of Soumitri Studio.

I’m a Melbourne-based photographer and filmmaker. I started my photography career at the end of high school, creating photo and video content for a friend of mine who is an emerging music artist. I have since fallen in love with being behind the lens.

After graduating high school, I undertook a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne where I majored in Political Science and International Affairs. My passion for both photography and politics/development studies led me to develop a love for documentary photography.

My most recent project involved visiting an accelerated school in rural Rajasthan, India, to document their process of preparing village children for a mainstream, secondary education. I aim to continue weaving these two interests to undertake more work in the development field. I hope to utilise both my photographic and writing abilities to promote the sponsorship of underfunded initiatives worldwide.
